Where Private Label Specialist started

Private Label Specialist is our own brand, with a catalogue of 26 product groups for business buyers. The site had to work in Dutch and English and make a large range easy to search. Buyers also needed a way to ask for a quote instead of paying at a checkout.

What we built for our own brand

We built an Astro site with 234 pages in Dutch and English, a catalogue of 26 product groups and a search function. Buyers put the products they want in a quote basket and send it as one request. We made our own product images, and an SEO check runs in every build.

Why we built it in Astro

A catalogue site with 234 pages in two languages is the kind of project where we choose custom code over Webflow or Shopify. Astro builds every page in advance, so the pages load quickly and the site stays simple to host. Because the pages are ready in advance, a page doesn't have to wait for a database when many people visit at the same time. It also gives us full control over how each page is set up for search engines.

A catalogue that buyers can search

The catalogue covers 26 product groups. With a range that size, browsing through menus takes time, so the site has a search function that takes buyers straight to the product they have in mind. That helps most when a buyer already knows what they need and wants to skip the menu. Each product group has its own place in the catalogue, which helps buyers and search engines understand how the range fits together.

A quote basket instead of a checkout

Business buyers often need a price for their own quantity before they can decide, so the site has a quote basket. Buyers collect the products they're interested in and send them as one request, instead of paying at a checkout. For the buyer it works like a shopping basket, with a request at the end where a payment would normally be. The quote basket is also one of the systems we build for our clients' B2B online stores.

Our own images and an SEO check in every build

The product images on the site are our own. Every time the site is built, an SEO check runs as part of the build, so a change that breaks the SEO rules is caught before any visitor sees it. With 234 pages in two languages, that check does work that would otherwise mean going through every page by hand. You can read how we build sites like this on our website design page.

What buyers can do now

Buyers can search the catalogue in Dutch or English and send what they need as one request from the quote basket. Because the SEO check runs in every build, a change that breaks the SEO rules is caught before it goes live.
