Where Birun Print & Sign started

Birun Print & Sign produces print and signage from Amsterdam and Almere. Almost every job is different, because the size, the material and the quantity change from one customer to the next, and each of those choices changes the price. The new online store had to handle that. It also had to keep the old web addresses working for Google and offer an English version next to the Dutch one.

What we built for Birun

We built a Shopify store with product configurators that calculate the price while the customer makes their choices, with a file upload in the same step. Every order is forwarded automatically to the print partner. As part of the SEO work, we set up 301 redirects from the old URLs and added an English language version.

Why a print store needs a configurator

A sign or a print job rarely has one fixed price. The size, the material, the finish and the quantity all change what it costs, so a store with fixed products and fixed prices doesn't fit this kind of business. A product configurator asks the customer for each choice and recalculates the price straight away. On Birun's store the file upload sits in the same flow, so an order arrives with the file that belongs to it. The customer knows the price before ordering, and Birun gets an order that is complete from the start.

How orders reach the print partner

When a customer places an order, the store forwards it automatically to the print partner that produces it. We built that connection next to the configurators, and the customer's file travels with the order. An order never waits for someone to copy details from one system into another. It's the part of the work you don't see on the website, but it decides how much manual work every order creates for the team.

Keeping old URLs working

Birun already had a website, and Google knew the addresses of its pages. When a site moves to a new platform, those addresses change, and without a plan the old links lead to error pages. As part of the SEO work, we set up 301 redirects, which send visitors and search engines from each old URL to the right new page. A redirect map lists every old address next to its new one, so the pages that people and Google already know keep working after the move. The new store starts from what the old site had built up, instead of from scratch. We also added an English language version, so customers who don't read Dutch can order as well.

Live since 28 August 2026

The new store went live on 28 August 2026, in Dutch and English. Since then, every order has gone to the print partner automatically, together with the customer's file. You can read how we run projects like this on our Shopify stores page.

What Birun's customers can do now

Customers can now put together a print or signage order online, see the price for their exact choice and upload their file in the same order. That order then goes to the print partner automatically, so nobody at Birun has to pass it on by hand.
